What this I miss? - Drake

Drake once again tries to position himself as the underdog on “What Did I Miss?”, which is a wild narrative choice for someone who owns a literal jet called Air Drake. It’s tough to claim you’re abandoned when you’re airing grievances from 30,000 feet in a custom 767.

He’s a gifted artist — no question — and occasionally brilliant, but his persona is starting to unravel. The song plays like a guilt trip toward friends who didn’t ride for him during the beef, casting himself as primus inter pares — first among equals — but it comes off more like CEO of Self-Pity Inc.

That said, the beat switch gives the song a much-needed second wind. His flow gets looser, the vibe picks up, and it becomes… listenable, even fun. Still, with Iceman on the way, here’s hoping he cools it on the martyr act. There’s only so much sympathy you can ask for when your sadness cruises at 500 knots
